Some of the best students and teachers in Louisiana are right here in Gueydan, and we think they deserve some recognition, so this is our chance to get to know them a little better. This is our Student Spotlight on GHS 9th Grader Reina Petry.

Are you a part of any clubs, activities, or sports here at GHS?
I'm a part of Softball, Cheer, band, 4-h, Movie club, Beta club, Writing club, and Drama club.
What do you love about being a Gueydan Bear?
I love being able to be a part of several clubs and activities. Gueydan high has clubs and sports for everyone's interests.
What's your favorite class this year?
My favorite class this year is IBCA taught by Ms. Kelly B.
Who's your favorite teacher you've ever had at GHS? What did you love about being in their class?
My favorite teacher was Mrs. Brittney. she was always there to help me with anything and everything.
What's your favorite school lunch (served in our beautiful new cafeteria)?
Sausage Potato Stew (with Kennedi´s Tonys, of course.)
What event(s) do you look forward to the most at school every year and why?
Every year I look forward to cheering at games with my closet friends.
If you could pick any 3 GHS students to go with you on a cross country road trip, who would they be? Where would you go?
I would pick Julia C. Ava B. and Kennedi L., I'd bring them with me to the mountains so we could ski.
What's your best/favorite memory from your time as a Gueydan Bear so far?
Honestly the rides back on the bus after winning a softball game.
If you could give one piece of advice to future Gueydan Bears, what would it be?
Do not be scared to just have fun at school. Not everything you do has to be boring work. Join clubs hang out with friends and enjoy it.
Do you have any music, books, movies, or TV shows that you love?
My favorite book is ¨Holding Back the Tide¨ and my favorite show is Outer Banks.
Do you have any interests or hobbies outside of school?
Outside of school I mainly paint, play piano, and do 4-H
What are your goals for the future?
I plan to attend UL for my business marketing degree in hopes of one day owning my very own business.
