French Students
For the past year, Gueydan middle school students have been participating in an exchange program with the students of College Vivian Maier Secondary School, a middle school in Saint Bonnet-et-Champsaur of the French Alps, the village of origin of Jean-Pierre Gueydan, founder and namesake of the town of Gueydan.    The principal and teachers of College Vivian Maier School reached out to Gueydan High School once they discovered the connection between the communities and requested that students from both schools build relationships with each other through a culture exchange.  The two schools have remained in contact throughout the year.  The students from College Vivian Maier, with the help of the Abbeville Rotary Club, will visit south Louisiana the week of March 18.   They are scheduled to visit Gueydan March 21st.  Principal, Nadine Lepretre, has created an exciting itinerary for the group showcasing various places around our community.  Gueydan High will host a Community Reception for the Students on March 21 at 10:00 am in the Bill Searle Gymnasium.  The students will present their project about the Emigration to Louisiana.  A message from the Mayor of St. Bonnet will be played during the reception.  Please join Gueydan High in welcoming our visitors from St. Bonnet at this event.
