Student Spotlight

Some of the best students and teachers in Louisiana are right here in Gueydan, and we think they deserve some recognition, so this is our chance to get to know them a little better. This is our Student Spotlight on GHS 8th Grader Ronnie Mouton.

What grade are you currently in?

8th Grade


Are you a part of any clubs, activities, or sports here at GHS?

Beta, and I am the president of our 8th grade class.


What do you love about being a Gueydan Bear?

That my teachers push and inspire me to strive for my goals and be the best I can be.


What's your favorite class this year?

Math due to Mr. Butler being one of my favorite teachers, I really do enjoy how he teaches.


Who's your favorite teacher you've ever had at GHS? What did you love about being in their class?

Mrs. Angie, she has a wonderful way of connecting with students and has a love of philosophy like I do.


What's your favorite school lunch (served in our beautiful new cafeteria)?

Our fettuccine, I really enjoy what our lunch ladies can do.


What event(s) do you look forward to the most at school every year and why? 

Awards ceremony, I enjoy seeing rewards for the achievements I've made throughout the year.


If you could pick any 3 GHS students to go with you on a cross country road trip, who would they be and where would you go?

Adelynn, Temprynce, and my best friend Noah. We could travel from state to state, visiting many different museums and libraries to expand what we already know.


What's your best/favorite memory from your time as a Gueydan Bear so far?

Last awards ceremony when I received about 6-12 rewards. I was very surprised in myself and I always try to surpass that amount if I can.


If you could give one piece of advice to future Gueydan Bears, what would it be?

Strive for the acquirement of knowledge and intellect. Be the best you can be and reach for your goals.


Do you have any interests or hobbies outside of school?

I enjoy reading and doing archery from time to time.


What are your goals for the future?

In the future, I wish to go to Harvard. Then I shall join the field of Bio-medical engineering or some other area that will allow me to make a contribution to society.
