Staff Spotlight

Some of the best students and teachers in Louisiana are right here in Gueydan, and we think they deserve some recognition, so this is our chance to get to know them a little better. This is our GHS Staff Spotlight on our principal, Mrs. Nadine Lepretre.

How long have you been teaching? How long have you been at Gueydan High?

24 years; 18 years at GHS


What was your favorite subject when you were in school?

I loved History with Mr. Adams and Mr. Miller


What do you love most about being a Gueydan Bear?

I love my community! I love walking the halls of that my grandparents, parents, and children walked. This is my home!


Who or what inspired you to be a teacher? 

My mother had a school journal for me. As far back as first grade, I wrote I wanted to be a teacher.


What's the farthest you've ever been from home?

England, France, and Italy


What's your favorite team(s)?

Gueydan Bears and Honeybears


Do you have any collections? If so, of what?

I LOVE TO READ!!


What's your favorite meal?

My mother's chicken stew and fruit cocktail salad.


What's something you learned through failure?

I learned perseverance.


What does leadership mean to you?

To me, leadership is the ability to inspire others to be the best they can be.


If you could go back in time to when you were your students' age and give them advice, what would it be?

Just be NICE! Oh, and listen to the Principal.


What's one thing people would never guess about you?

I served ISS in the same office I now sit as Principal.


Do you have any favorite memories from your time in school?

I have many great memories: decorating for prom, toilet papering activities with my fellow cheerleaders for homecoming ; ), attending dances.


Could you tell us a little about your family?

I have a wonderful husband, Randy, of 26 years. We raised three beautiful children, Randy Jr, Rebekah, and Nikolas and gained a fourth one, whom we love dearly, Kennedy. I have two sets of parents and eight brothers and sisters. I LOVE my family.


What are a few things you couldn't live without?

Prayer, my family, and books
