The GHS Band started a new tradition today. Each week in each class, the section that shows the best behavior, musicianship, and band spirit will be awarded with the Section of the Week Championship Belt!
This week's winners are:
6th Grade: Woodwinds (clarinets, and saxophones)
7th Grade: Woodwinds (flute, clarinet, and saxophones)
Advanced Band: Saxophones
Today, Ms. Crystal's 7th grade ELA class held a debate today on the topic: Which has more influence on a main character: setting or other characters? They began preparations yesterday, which included finding text evidence to support their claim, acknowledging opposing claims, and dividing their groups into teams to better support each other throughout the debate.
GHS hosted their annual Open House, where parents and students got a chance to visit their teachers and earn a free dress pass for attending. Afterwards, the crowd gathered in the gym for a Community Pep Rally. The band, cheerleaders, and football team were recognized, and Mrs. Nadine then revealed this year's high school Beta officers, King's and Queen's Courts for homecoming, and recognized Students of the Month for August. The event closed when juniors were rewarded with Letterman Jackets for their years of hard work in our various sports and organizations. Thanks to the Gueydan community for making this a great night of celebrating our school!
