Visiting local artist Keshawn “Key” Collins shared his talents with our students and guided them to create their own art! We got messy and had an amazing time. Great job to all students who participated!

Nicholas Trahan Jr. attended the Acadiana District 4-H Rabbit Show today. He took home several best of breeds, best opposites, and ribbons for doing well showing his rabbits! Congratulations Nicholas on a job well done! Thanks for representing GHS!!

Advanced Food students cooked and taste tested different muffins, first was store bought, second was made from a mix, third and forth was made from scratch by each group and finally a special high protein recipe by our own Coach Kern. Majority chose the healthy recipe!

This Week at GHS - January 26th through February 1st

Mrs. Cynthia’s Small Business enrichment class got crafty today and made their own custom scented soaps! They spent earlier this week researching their fragrances to determine correct measurements and uses. Their hard work really paid off!

Our school is partnering with Neighborhood Forest to give students a free tree to take home and plant this spring! Shout out to the GHS Indoor Track team for the dedication, commitment, and effort they put into competing today at their meet at McNeese! This was our indoor track team's very first meet, and the work that they've been putting in during practice really showed. They're building something new, and we couldn't be more proud of them!

The Pathology Lab from LSU AgCenter’s H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station visited Mrs. Savanah’s environmental science class today for a presentation on disease control and technology advancements in rice research. Students were able to watch a demonstration on how drones can be used to apply pesticides and capture various imagery to assess disease severity. Students also had the chance to view infected rice samples with high powered microscopes and culture their own fungi samples in Petri dishes. Thanks to Dr. Felipe Dalla Lana, Laura Monte, and Dylan Trahan for taking time to visit with our students today!

This Week at GHS - January 12th through January 18th

Mrs. Savannah’s Biology classes have been working hard on their individual species projects. Students created group cladograms after researching the taxonomy breakdown of their species.

Support the GHS Lache Pas program! Lache Pas aims to preserve our Louisiana culture through education about the art, music, food, and culture that make South Louisiana such a special place.
